Hero’s In Our Own Story…

“Nothing is so common as the wish to be remarkable…”
                                                                                                        ~ Shakespeare

There’s an unconscious imperative within the human species to be “The Hero’s Of Our Own Story…” We see this played out in athletics, science, literature, mathematics, and the trades even in the arts… Individuals aspiring to be “The Best” at their vocation… to set new standards of excellence… to be “The Innovators” of new technologies, to be the “inspiration” of their generation in having boldly gone… or done, what no one else has heretofore… But then, what about the countless nameless Hero’s you and I don’t read about…? What about the man or woman mopping floors in a hospital or nursing home, the individual waiting tables in a local restaurant, the cashier at the corner convenience store, gas station or retail outlet…? What about the individual loading or unloading trucks, or those who process freight to get it out on a sales floor…? What about those who sweat it out day to day in a factory, a shipyard, or a commercial kitchen… cooking, busing tables and washing dishes or any of the host of chores in food prep…? What about the taxi, bus, or Limo driver… the childcare attendant, sales person on a retail floor…? What about the dairy farmer, produce farmer, or minimum wage laborer… are they any less noble, their dreams any less valid, and their contributions any less note-worthy…? Tell me; are they any less “The Hero’s” of their own story…?” NO… a million times No…!!!!! Because while we may applaud the amature or professional athlete, the scientist’s who develop cures for all that ail us, or the Captain’s of Industry for their innovations and ability to create jobs that stimulate the economy… they are all beholden to the average, punch a clock working class of our society who make it possible for them to pursue their ambitions. Yes, the backbone of all sustainable societies are the nuts and bolts workers who get the jobs done that enable a nation and a people to function without limitation… granting the boldest, brightest and most innovative amongst us to thrive…

So whether you’re a white-collar, blue-collar, new collar or no-collar at all worker… knows that the Hero of Your Story really is YOU!!!!! The Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Grandma, Aunt, Uncle, Sister, Brother, Son, Daughter, Cousin, or Friend who matters most right where you are… know that the heroic vocation wherein you’re employed is part of the blood and sinew of our nations economic lifeline, that no part of the economic body in any society can thrive without each member of that entity fulfilling their specific function… Know that while you and I read about, and are inspired by feats of individual excellence in our personal areas of interest. We each of us have a part to play… with a job well done at work, and applied interest and interaction at home. Know that the things you say and the deeds you do, are a means of measuring the manner of a man or woman you are… and will become… Know that the simple things of life have a profound impact on us all… that a kind word, a cordial gesture, and personal integrity inspire us all to be better at who we are and what we do… Know that yours and my place in the world is unique unto it’s self… that no one is better suited to be you, than you… and in this great nation, a Republic who’s leaders are beholden to it’s people… “We The People,” of this Unlimited Meritocracy have the ability to do and be whatever we aspire to, both in, and beyond our vocations… recognizing that the “Why” is just as important as the “What,” that the “Who” is even more important than the “Where” …because the “Who” is you and I, along with those we hold dear… The Hero’s Of Our Own Unique Story to tell from generation to generation…
